Cristian Macelaru, conductor and Andrei Ioniță, cello

The National Symphony Orchestra of Romania attracts the brightest Romanian musicians between the ages of 18 and 35, in order to foster a unique creative experience in the common pursuit of musical excellence.

With the phenomenal young cellist Andrei Ioniță, they could not have found a better performer to partner with. Even at his young age, Andrei is making waves on the international classical music scene, drawing admiration from critics and audiences around the world. Ioniță received a Gold Medal at the 2015 XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, and has been called “one of the most exciting cellists to have emerged for a decade” by the prestigious Times of London.
