The Arod Quartet skyrocketed to international attention when they won the coveted First Prize at the 2016 ARD International Music Competition in Munich, having already taken First Prize at the Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen in 2015. They later served as the BBC New Generation Artists from 2017 to 2019. Since then, they have firmly established themselves in performance and recording at the forefront of string quartets by dazzling audiences around the globe.
The group takes its name from Legolas’s horse in J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic The Lord of the Rings trilogy; in Tolkien’s mythic Rohirric language, arod means “swift.”
