Music. Memories. Honesty.
One of the most respected country stars of her era brings a distinct blend of folk, bluegrass, gospel, and singer-songwriter intimacy to our stage.
Kathy Mattea, the beloved, Grammy-winning singer of the classics “18 Wheels and A Dozen Roses,” “Where’ve You Been,” and many other hits, brought a scintillating, stripped-down tilt to the world of 1980s pop country. She’s maintained a career marked by overwhelming recognition ever since. An exceptional storyteller, Kathy draws inspiration from her Appalachian roots and is a torchbearer for often overlooked musical legacies like those of Hazel Dickens and Jean Ritchie.
Kathy’s new album Pretty Bird will be released this Fall – her first album since 2012’s Calling Me Home. The album features a stunning collection that chronicles Kathy’s journey, song by song, back to singing for the sheer joy of it.
