GAINESVILLE, Fla.- MOMIX returns to the Phillips Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Phillips Center with a performance of the critically-acclaimed work Botanica.
The company has been featured in film and television, including national commercial campaigns for Hanes and Target. The Philadelphia Inquirer said of MOMIX director Moses Pendleton: “his inventiveness and artistry far surpass the popular Cirque du Soleil.”
This production displays dance at its most organic and inventive. With costumes, projections, custom-made props, puppetry and a score ranging from birdsong to Vivaldi, Botanica showcases the endlessly renewable energy of the company’s performers.
For 30 years, MOMIX – under the direction of Moses Pendleton – has been celebrated internationally for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body.
Tickets are on sale and available for this performance. Call 352-392-ARTS (2787) or 800-905-ARTS (toll free within Florida), or visit www.performingarts.ufl.edu for more information.
