The smash-hit musical show Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music has been all around the world and now comes to the Phillips Center at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.
Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews film musical in glorious, full-screen Technicolor, complete with subtitles so the whole audience can sing along!
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for UF students and children under 12.
The fun-filled show starts with a vocal warm-up led by the evening’s host, who also takes the audience through their complimentary “magic moments pack,” containing various props to be used at strategic points throughout the film. Then, of course, there is the famous fancy-dress competition in which everyone who has come in costume is invited onto the stage to show off their fantastic tailoring skills.
So get those vocal chords warmed up, cut up those chintz curtains and hurry down for the perfect night out. Fancy dress is not obligatory but highly recommended.
After a festival debut in May of 1999, Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music began running at the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s West End in August of that same year – and has been there ever since. The Sing-a-Long phenomenon is now a worldwide success playing in many of the world’s biggest cities including New York, L.A., San Francisco, Toronto, Sydney, Melbourne, Dublin and Oslo, Amsterdam and Stockholm.
