Six-time Emmy Award winner Carol Burnett has demonstrated such versatility since ending the 11 year run of the Carol Burnett Show that she is now as widely recognized for her dramatic abilities as she is for her comedic and musical talents. Americans fondly consider Carol Burnett a true living legend in entertainment, having bestowed more People’s Choice Awards upon her than any other woman in the award show’s history. In 2003 she was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honor and in 2005 received The Presidential Medal of Freedom Award. Some of her other notable awards include six Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes, the Peabody Award for Friendly Fire, and the Ace Award for Between Friends with Elizabeth Taylor. She has enjoyed the kind of career that most performers are only able to dream of, moving easily from the stage to television, from feature films to films for television, and from variety specials to music and comedy specials.
As a weekly visitor in America’s living rooms, Carol Burnett always opened her show with a few minutes of hilarious banter with the audience. Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett: A Conversation with Carol Where the Audience Asks the Questions is a rare opportunity to talk to Carol in the same enjoyable and intimate audience-interactive format. Carol says, “I love the spontaneity of these evenings. I never know what anybody is going to say or do or ask.” Come with your questions and share in the fun with one of America’s most loved and respected performers.

I enjoyed the event with reservations. I think Carol was a wonderful performer but I thought that this conversation was a bit shy on content for the pricing of the event. We spent time looking at video and not a lot of substance. Having said that, she is delightful lady.

Loved the show and seeing Carol Burnett in person. She was gracious to everyone; has a wonderful memory, told marvelous stories. Our seats were excellent and we feel we got great value for our money.
Hope Ms. Burnett will make the Phillips Center a stage she visits regularly.

Very enjoyable; I wasn’t sure if the reason the screen/picture seemed cut off on top was due to technical reasons?
Otherwise, fun evening, and for students to see such a performer at such a great rate is terrific…allows us to appreciate the arts.
Thanks.

Carol Burnett is a national treasure for her career and it was good to get her to visit Gainesville. My wife and I were struck by the eloquence of the questions asked by the audience. It speaks well for the sophistication of the people who attend performances at the Phillips Center.

For Christmas, I gave tickets to my parents to attend Carol Burnett’s performance with me. They drove 4 hours one way to see her. They really enjoyed the evening.
Thank you.

I have been to many wonderful events at the Performing Arts Center and thoroughly enjoyed most of them. The Carol Burnett Show is one of my all-time favorites. I went, not expecting too much and was absolutely thrilled with the evening. Thank you for bringing her to Gainesville.

I applaud UFPA for the variety of performances which they bring to us, especially those like Carol Burnett. I was especially interested that most of the audience appeared to know her TV shows by heart; felt a relationship with her, as evidenced by the very personal stories; interaction with her in person. This event was a real gift, very personal, to lots of people in the audience that evening. Thank you.

Carol Burnett and the show were delightful! I was also impressed with the quality and conscientiouness of the sign language interpreters who enhanced the show’s experience for my deaf daughter. After the show, one of the managing ushers came to check if our seating, the visibility and the interpretation were satisfactory. They were much more than satisfactory - they were perfect, and I greatly appreciated the managing usher’s follow-up. Looking forward to the next show at the Performing Arts Center. Thank you.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Carol Burnett performance. We, especially my wife, have been long time fans of Ms. Burnett and we regarded it as a special treat to get some insight into her personal life from her own perspective. We went to a similar event with Bill Cosby a few years ago in Virginia and it was also very enjoyable.

I purchased tickets to the Carol Burnett Show for my parents as a surprise 50th Anniversary gift. We always enjoyed her variety show as a family when I was growing up and my parents said they thoroughly enjoyed their evening. My father said he hadn’t laughed that hard in a long time and she is still a wonderful talent. Thanks so much for bringing her to Gainesville!

We gave tickets to my mother as a Christmas gift so we could go with her. Everyone seemed to enjoy the show. It was nice to have an evening of laughter. We were able to see Carol pretty well even though we were toward the back. Just a thought, it might have been nice to have folks submit questions prior. There seemed to be a lot of hands raised where we were seated that went unanswered because there wasn’t an usher to give us the microphone until she announced that it was time to end. When she did the TV show there would be just a few minutes of questions. We weren’t sure how long we had that night. She was very gracious and we were happy we were able to attend the event.

We love all that Carol Burnett has done. We did have a question, but the microphone was not available to the right side of the mezzanine even though my husband politely told someone he would like to ask a question. Thank you for the phone number in the program to order DVDs.

Carol Burnett was a delight. I took my mother to the program and we very much enjoyed it. We watched most of the original shows in the 70s and found them very entertaining. It would have been nice if the event could have been a half hour longer. There were so many moments that Carol Burnett could share with the audience and there were so many others who wanted to ask her questions. I would like to thank the director, Michael Blachly, for helping to bring such a fine performer to Gainesville.

Thoroughly enjoyed the “Conversation with Carol Burnett”. She is a legend for sure and how wonderful that Michael Blachly had the foresight and wisdom of booking her when he did. Again we are blessed with the PA staff……. Thank you one and all.
