Ragamala Dance – Sacred Earth

October 2, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Born and raised in south India, Ragamala’s artistic directors Ranee and Aparna Ramaswamy bring their culture’s unique sensibility of mysticism, myth and sanctity to the contemporary stage. Inspired by ephemeral traditions that use art to find the spiritual in the everyday and reflect ideal harmony in the natural world, Sacred Earth’s choreography – ranging from contemplative to ecstatic – brings both internal and external landscapes to life. Accompanied by live music, the evening builds from silent, meditative beginnings to a thrilling crescendo, as the performers surrender to the beauty of this Sacred Earth.
